So far in the first two events I've played I lasted about a grand total of 4 hours and have won about 1 pot. That's kind of the way it goes in these low buy in events sometimes, but I'm hoping if I've had to experience one end of the spectrum in variance i'll get to experience the other very shortly. Historically in these events I'm either out before dinner or I cash, it's literally that extreme. They've improved the structure a lot this year with bigger starting stacks and more levels though, so I was anticipating a better chance for skill to win out in these. The sample size is really small though so I'm not worried.
For those of you that had asked for table #s for live sweat I'm in Amazon Orange table 63 seat 8 today to start. Even though the first two events didn't go so well I'm confident I played well just had a couple of pretty unavoidable spots. Not to mention I was having a pretty bad day yesterday in the first place. My rental car wouldn't start in the morning. I got roadside assistance to jump it and drove it over to the new condo I'm staying in with Grant Hinkle. The guy said to let it run for 30 minutes or so and I did, but when I got out to leave the car wouldn't start again. Grant was kind enough to give me a ride up there (and back after I busted) and I got the car rental company to tow a new car out to the condo in exchange for the bad one, but it was just a mess of a day altogether.
So far today is much smoother, let's hope that translate on to the felt as well!

I’m not sure if everyone saw my Twitter/PXF bust out post, but I busted during level 3 of the $1k. I had ~2000 chips and had AKo in the small blind. An aggressive opener from MP and a semi-loose caller on the button were in the pot at 50/100. Initial raise was 300 so I [...]
Just a reminder i’m playing the $1k today. I will be updating via Twitter (which shows up on the homepage here at the bottom with the last three tweets) and on PXF text updates. I forgot to charge my phone last night so I’m going to try and conserve batteries by turning it off while [...]
Wow, well I was going to play day 1A (today of the $1k event) but today was sold out, and when I got up to the registration desk there were only 10 seats left for tomorrow!!! I guess it’s a good sign that we’re seeing registration numbers that high though. So I will be playing [...]
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Lock Poker so I thought i’d use the ‘Ask Rizen’ segment this week to address those. I just arrived in Las vegas tonight and I’m playing the $1k tomorrow for those of you that were asking me about that as well! Q: Does Lock Poker Offer Rakeback? A: Not [...]
I wanted to add some of my own comments regarding the press release in the previous post and my new partnership with Lock Poker. First, I’m VERY excited to be a part of the team over there. The relationship started during the Bluff Poker Challenge and the details they took care of and the way [...]

Lock Poker and Rizen after months of discussions finalize their partnership. The relationship marks the beginning of Lock Poker’s vision to partner with the player. Lock Poker is taking [...]
FTOPS is finally over. I love the big online poker series, but man they are a time sink, and can get pretty expensive if you don’t do well. I had an okay FTOPS. I haven’t done the math at all, but I’m pretty sure I came through the FTOPS a slight loser, but fairly close [...]
Those of you that remember to last year might recall that I participated in a fundraiser tournament for the Kansas Association of Blind Athletes, specifically to support the Kansas All Stars beep baseball team. This year they’re doing it again, but they also have an online tournament. It is being held on Poker Stars tournamend [...]
Sorry I didn’t post this Friday. To be perfectly honstly I only had one question as of Friday, but I got a bunch this weekend so I’m going to do this slightly ‘late’ and do 3 of the questions I received and save the rest for this Friday. Q: I am looking for individuals to complete [...]
FTOPS starts today. In preparation I took a little time off really only playing a heavy tournament schedule on Sunday. Even then it was somewhat limited. I wanted to kind of recharge the mind a little before it started so I could play at a high level through the entire FTOPS. Historically I’ve done very [...]
I’m bringing back the old ‘Ask Rizen’ feature on Fridays. I have a few questions that I have gotten I can use for this installment. If you’d like to have a question (poker related or otherwise) answered as a part of ‘Ask Rizen’ on Fridays please click on the ‘Ask Rizen’ link and fill out [...]
Just a quick post, but we’ve got the new rizenpoker.com up and running as you can probably see. Please feel free to give me feedback on what you like and don’t like. I know I have a few kinks to work out already though. This should be great for me and for those of you that [...]
