LasVegasvegas reporter RC Clark posted the following article.
The latest poker scandal involves a long-term scam that four supervisors at the Planet Hollywood poker room were involved in.
The four skimmed money out of high hand jackpots, where poker players win an amount of money if receiving 4-of-a-kind or higher. If no one received that hand that day, jackpot rake from all hands would increase the amount for the next day.
Some supervisors and managers in the poker room worked together to intercept and keep that extra money, which belonged to the players. They were also falsifying payouts to nonexistent players who received nonexistent high hands.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board had been investigating the past few months and last month arrested Thomas Kordick, Scott Marshall, Jason Peterson, and Jonathan Sanner. They were led out of the poker room in handcuffs and charged with forgery, embezzlement, and conspiracy.

Online qualifiers are running at differing buy-in levels and tournament types up to the $270 buy-in Bodog Flight Club Semifinal. One player for every 48 entries in this Semifinal will win a $12,000 Prize Package to the Amsterdam Netherlands.
This poker tournament runs from November 10-13, 2009, and the prize package includes the € 6,000 + € 200 buy-in (approx. $8,800 USD) as well as $3,200 for travel and accommodation expenses.

The Amsterdam Netherlands at the Holland Casino is one of the staple events on the European poker circuit drawing in some of the biggest names in poker. The event will be particularly popular with younger players, who will be able to play legally in the country.
Amsterdam is always an attractive city to visit, so even if you make an unfortunate and early exit from the event (knock on wood!), there is still so much more to take in and do in Amsterdam. It may even be a good place and the perfect time to check out the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event props at Bodog.

WSOP fans either love or hate Phil Hellmuth. There's no middle ground with this guy even though his table manners have definitely improved in the last few years. Verbal outbursts, temper tamtrums, rants against fellow players, and outrageous self promotion stunts are fewer and without the intensity that earned him the "Poker Brat" tag. Has Hellmuth matured or are we seeing the effects of evolving WSOP rule changes that demand better sportsmanship while imposing heavy handed penalties to those that don't comply? Me thinks it's the new rules that have produced the stoic Hellmuth.
Like him or not his poker accomplishments are the benchmark by which others are compared. A record eleven WSOP bracelets including a world championship in the 1989 Main Event. Hellmuth also holds the record for most WSOP cashes. He's bagged over $10 million in prize money and was the youngest player to win a Main Event, a record that lasted until Peter Eastgate grabbed the 2008 championship breaking Hellmuith's record after 19 years.
Don't forget to tune in this week's ESPN 2009 WSOP Main Event with two more hours of never before aired poker from the summer event at the Rio Resort in Las Vegas. It all begins at 8 PM ET on the ESPN sports network. Check local listings for broadcast times in your area.

We start with an explanation for the lack of posts this week on the Poker Prof's Blog. Unfortunately, Flipchip was reminded that he's only human after all, and he spent a few days visiting with a covey of nurses and a gaggle of doctors during his recent hospital stay. Although at the time it appeared to be a routine emergency, it actually turned out to be much less. Due to the CYA requirement as a result of greedy lawyers the doctors decided to keep him for a few extra days just in case.
Without further ado we offer the latest batch of Flipchip images from the 2009 WSOP. All of the photos were shot during the Up for Africa charity poker tournament at the Rio Resort during the WSOP.
Ante Up For Africa, a non-profit organization founded by Academy Award® nominee Don Cheadle, World Series of Poker champion Annie Duke and Norman Epstein, raised $600,000 this year and have collected a total of $2.5 million during their three years of existence.
Flip wishes to thank all those that expressed concern during his recent medical adventure and says you can tell the guys to throw the dirt back into the hole, we won't be needing it...yet.
