Quick update of last 10 days

Date: Wed, Feb 13, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

Sorry for lack of updates. Havent really been doing anything so i really have no excuse, just a lazy bum.

Been playing a good amount of poker. Has been up and down and im about even in cash, but I managed to take down the 5200 sunday freezeout which was nice. The replay will be really interesting to watch cause there were some good situations that arose.

In funny news I managed to get my ftp chat banned. A pocketfiver named USCphildo was making super troopers jokes about car ramrod, so i had to chime in. Apparently i also said some other things when i was railing the saturday 300 that in context were alright but ftp nazis decided to take me to chat jail.

Probably a good thing not to have chat on the site.

Im going to omaha tomorrow, the flight keeps getting delayed which sucks but i will get there eventually. I drew an mspaint for my friend Laurie who lives in fayetteville North Carolina. She says she always hears noises outside her house and there are 2 serial rapists on the loose so she is scared, so i drew a picture of us defending her house. My weapon of choice was a baseball bat, and hers was the wooden shield from the original egend of zelda. if its good enough for link its good enough for me.

January Wrap-up

Date: Thu, Jan 31, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/January_08_stats.JPG

I had a pretty good month in online cash. Pretty happy with how I played/ran, but still need to put in more volume. I wont always run this well so I need to offset that a little bit by putting maybe 50-60k hands a month. One more good month and ill be moving back to mostly bigger games.

Live tourneys went meh. Both events I busted on day 1 but it was ok because i made good swaps/buys and was lucky enough to be put into the PCA by stars this year which was great.

Overall a good month but I expect to keep it up and do even better in february.

The Greatest hand ever played...dzoo is my hero

Date: Mon, Jan 28, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

Never actually happened. But thanks to good old Dzoo from Liquidpoker and stars who has created his dream poker table and played out a hand as it would happen, we know what great poker is.

First here is the table he chose with his explanations for why he chose them:

Seat 1(and table captain): 'Curzdog' The only person who can play 8/6 and get constant action.

Seat 2: the infamous 'xxthejokerxxx' the only guy who shoves every gutshot no matter how deep u are or how little is in the pot at FR. And prolly the only person to have a 0% folds SB and BB to steal rate.

Seat 3: pre life tilt 'H@llingol' Who else thinks they are value betting 3 barrels with 10 high?

Seat 4: a new fav of mine. 'TOTMIDIAN' who else can fire 4 barrels on 3 streets? Its so scary to know that he can fire 2 bullets on the same street. I even heard that PT3 got rid of the infinity aggression symbol....its now just says 'tot_midian' in small letters.

Seat 5: 'Aragon' we all know why he is here, someone has to keep H@llingol in line. The only person I've ever called with KK preflop just to set mine vs and check fold flop to a cbet after his OR pre.

Seat 6: the best name in online poker and a personal fav 'Poopers' basically a modified and updated version of thejoker and origiator of the ridiculous overbet open shove (sickest move out there one that I have tried copying and lost many a buy in replicating)

Seat 7: another of poker's best minds 'Green Plastic'. ALtho isnt notorious for being associated with PS I had to include one of the godfathers of online poker and the fact that noone else sees a 4-5-6 all spades flop and looks down at KhJd and says 'well I have to c-bet here, but I'll give up if he calls'. Then the turn comes 7s and says 'well now I have to fire again.' He is also the originator of the PT infinity agression symbol and the reason the terms 'tricky and tough spot' were created.

Seat 8:another of LP's own. 'Wiseadvice' aka Blazed187 on stars. no matter how big u re raise his EP limp he WILL call. and he WILL hit his set. and he WILL stack u with a str8 up flop shove cuz....well u just have to pay him off.

Seat 9: obv saved the best for last. No mere words can describe this man. the only person who TRULY believes that once his BB goes in he is pot comitted to any raise pre. And the only person to overbet the pot then check fold a brick turn. AND the only person who will get 22 all in pre no matter how deep with a smile thinking he is ahead.....a hero of mine.....'Twin-caracas'

what a table. such a sick dynamic of hyper aggros, tighter than virgin fish and god knows what else. heres the most memorable hand played by the crew:

Some MMA awesomeness

Date: Thu, Jan 24, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

I've been making up for all the time i wasnt into mma by watching a lot of old fights. I gotta say i love it. Here are some things for those of you who arent into mma to get you started and into the sport. Its like chess with body parts.

First 2 pictures are from a BJ Penn vs Joe Stevenson fight. They were fighting for the vacated 155 title because the champion tested positive for steroids.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/penn_vs_stevenson.JPG

Awesome pic of the blood squirting out of his head while BJ penn is submitting him. Joe tapped out soon after

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/penn_vs_stevenson2.JPG

Here are some really cool videos worth seeing.

The first is the current 205 champion Quinton "rampage" Jackson back when he fought in Pride. Sick Sick slam after almost being put in an armbar by his opponent, one of the most common submission techniques:

The second is the best fighter in history Fedor getting almost slammed to death, but turning it around and using one of his favorite submissions, the kimura:

The third is a full fight of Fedor vs one of the best heavyweights, Cro Cop to give you an idea of a fight that goes the distance. Videos are rounds 1,2,3:

The Fourth is a fight between 2 of the best 205s, Wanderlei Silva and Dan Henderson, the ending is really cool:

The fifth is a fight between Silva and Quinton Jackson from before, check out the power Wandy has in his knees and how dangerous it is to get caught in a Muy Thai Clinch:

The final clip is a highlight of one of my favorite fighters, GSP:

Swongs continue at 3/6 6max

Date: Wed, Jan 23, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So ive pretty much stopped playing everything besides 3/6 6max the past week. I havent been doing very well and i wanted to buckle down and grind out some profit before moving back to other things.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/36_6max.JPG

I just cant seem to do very well. Im for sure running under expectation, but i also havent played my best. I had 1 -4500 session in there, which made me realize that i need to be a lot stricter about my stop losses. I hadnt had a 7-8 buyin loss in a session in a long time. Im reinstating the 4 buyin stop loss for 3/6 and 5/10 and ill use a 3 buyin stoploss for games at 10/20+ in the future.

Barely winning over such a large period of hands is really frustrating. I feel like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky 3 when he is training with Apollo for his rematch vs Clubber Lang. You know the scene, where rocky is taking punches to the head from Apollo but is having flashbacks to his first fight with clubber, but he isnt going down because the punches are so much weaker.

Thats how i feel at 3/6 6max. Most of the players are just so much weaker than opponents im used to playing and i see all these awful things but keep getting my head beat in. Im going to keep fighting and work through this. I will keep reviewing all my pots where i lose 30bb or more, look for things i can improve in my game, and keep playing high volume until im comfortable to move back into other things.

THERE IS NO TOMORROW

Lots of stuffs

Date: Fri, Jan 18, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

First poker.

Been doing very well this month up till about 2 days ago. I had 3 bad sessions in a row playing 3/6 6max and i did a lot of thinking/work on why i was playing bad. A lot of it was running bad but i definitely was not playing my best. I had about an 8 buyin downswing over the course of 3-4k hands, so i went through all the pots over 30bb i played and looked through PT to find some errors and i think i corrected most of them. So far ive won 5 buyins back and im going to play till i win about 5 more buyins before moving back into higher 6max games. Anyway, here are the pt stats for january so far:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/ptfirsthalfofjan08.JPG

Its not listed because its at the bottom, but ive started tinkering around at 2/4 hu. i really want to improve my hu game so im going to start at 2/4 and work my way up after i win about 20-30 buyins at each level. ive never really spent any time working on it and i believe being a good hu player is the key to moving past 10/20 and 25/50. ill probably spent some time watching all the hu videos on CR and going through sessions of hands to see how the game flow is going.

Outside of poker there are 2 new possible loves in my life. The first is mr townsends now ex assistant brooke. it seems she is no longer under mr rugbys wing and a free bird these days. as andrew proved in an earlier blog entry, her name along means shes hot so we should be on the search for her. lets track her down. i typed brooke into google images and these are some of the brookes who i dont recognize that might be her:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/186/478267700_802e8fc986.jpg

Any of these could be her.

Also, i never watch the show usually, but kathy daut convinced me to watch american idol with her the other night. I fell in love with one of the contestants, kristy lee cook: She trains MMA (sick armbar in the video), is super hot, good country singer and is going to be famous soon. if anyone knows how i can get in touch with said goddess let me know! check out her american idol video:

Got life tilt?

Date: Tue, Jan 15, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

Ok, going to try this again.

Some guys over on liquidpoker found these games that are the most life tilting things ever. check out some videos:

First game is like a bizarro japanese mario type thingy, but its just the biggest asshole version ever, you can download it here: http://www.geocities.jp/z_gundam_tanosii/home/Main.html

It's the first video.

The next 3 are the second game, titled asshole mario. I dont think i would have the patience to get through any level of this cause it looks nearly impossible. Check out a few videos of it, there could be some sick sidebets on beating it:

Bahamas

Date: Sat, Jan 12, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So i had a pretty good time hanging out in the bahamas. I did poorly in the PCA, busting day 1, never got into any good situations or had any spots to accumulate. Whatevs. I didnt bother playing the side events, but i did play some online cash while there and did pretty well.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/bahamas_cash.JPG

I started out playing pretty bad first day but after that i played very well and its a nice start to the year. The 25/50 games were really really bad most of the time though, it was usually me and 2-3 shortstacks and a rotating cast of stinger, dustin dirksen, playmoneypro, 93tillinfinity who im not 100%, but i think is a very well respected high stakes player but i wont say who i think it is in case he wants to keep it a secret. the games had a few bad players though so i stayed in them for a bit too long. anyway, im not going to be playing much 25/50 unless the games improve, but ill def be playing a lot of 10/20.

ok, so some other good things. a couple hours into day 2 i had no horses left in the pca, but i had 2 swaps alive in rainkhan and mezmerizeplz (who both cashed). i wanted a bit more action so i decided to walk around the poker room seeing if i could buy 1% of people for a fair price. the only person who took me up on the offer was elky, who had a 160k stack. i offered him 600 bucks for 1% which means he needed 15th to break even, but its a good buy because when he gets top 3 (which is probably like 1 in 30) i make a lot. so anyway, he goes on to win and i ship a nice little cash weeeee.

i dont know if you guys listened, but i did part of the commentary for the pca final table. i commentated on the 4 handed part and i think i did a really good job. I had one funny line (funny for me at least) where me and lee jones (brag post, who btw says he reads my blog sometimes WOOHOO) were talking about how much of a badass david pham was for being 1 of only 40 survivors on a boat to america, and how when someone raises me he goes "you raise me? YOU RAISE ME? WELL I RERAISE YOU CHOLERA!!!!". i dont know where you can find a link to the broadcast as it was just a live feed, but i really enjoyed doing it and would like to do more of that in the future.

one last note....jman says if i buy him drinks i can find out what banana thieves are. so on that note, enjoy yourselves banana thieves.

An interesting start to the year...

Date: Wed, Jan 2, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So I decided I wanted to improved my limit game because I think it would really help with tough postflop situations and help my hu NL game in certain situations where i need to get max value with hands and need to make big call downs.

I started off the day trying to get hu limit games anywhere from 2/4 to 10/20. i watched a couple schneids vids and played a bunch and apparently i really really fucking suck at hu limit. check out this mess:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/lol_hu_limit.JPG

LOL. that has to be the most pathetic thing of all time. i cant even claim running remotely bad as i lost to about 6 separate opponents. ok i guess i wont be playing any more hu limit.

BUT ON A POSITIVE NOTE...i decided to not totally give up and try to grind back the losses at other limit games, and VOILAAAAAAAA, apparently i can minbet decently in 6max:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/weeee_6max_limit.JPG

so i made 18 dollars today. weeeeeeeeeeeeee ship it. ok im done with limit, back to grinding nl cash tomorrow.

new years eve was fun, and im contemplating mspainting some of it for your viewing pleasure, but it will definitely take a while to do. maybe ill do it when im in bahamas. the pictures would have funny moments from the nights of ahh_snap and martine23.
