Nellie Fox - Baseball Hall of Fame

Although Nellie Fox started his major league career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1947, it was not until after he was traded to the Chicago White Sox three years later that he played on a regular basis. The second baseman stayed with the White Sox for 14 years before finishing the last two years of his 19-year playing career with the Houston Astros in 1964 and 1965. Fox's strengths as a player included his excellent fielding and his speed. In addition, he was a difficult player to strike out.

Red Faber - Baseball Hall of Fame

Red Faber played for the Chicago White Sox for 20 years, pitching as both a starter and a reliever. In 1919, the year of the infamous "Black Sox" scandal, Faber had arm problems and he only played in 25 games that year. That injury turned out to be a blessing for Faber, keeping him at a distance from his teammates' downfall.

Luis Aparicio - Baseball Hall of Fame

Luis Aparicio was an American League shortstop who played in the major leagues for 18 years, starting with the Chicago White Sox in 1956. Aparicio came from a Venezuelan baseball family and he started his professional career in the Venezuela league. His father, also a shortstop, owned a winter league team in Venezuela. After six years in the Venezuela league, Aparicio was signed by the Chicago White Sox and he made his first appearance with them in 1956.

Ted Lyons - Baseball Hall of Fame

Ted Lyons pitched for 21 years (1923-1942; 1946) for the Chicago White Sox. Prior to being drafted by the White Sox, Lyons played baseball at Baylor University. He began his career with the White Sox as a relief pitcher, pitching in just 9 games in 1923. The following year, he was added to the team's starting rotation, where he remained for the rest of his career. In his last season, Lyons served as player-manager, pitching in only 5 games.

Luke Appling - Baseball Hall of Fame

Luke Appling played for 21 years for the Chicago White Sox, starting in 1930 when the team bought his minor league contract. Although Appling was a strong hitter, his fielding at shortstop was no asset to the White Sox. In his lifetime career at that position, Appling made 643 errors.

Robin Yount - Baseball Hall of Fame

Robin Yount played all 20 of his major league years with the Milwaukee Brewers. He was drafted by the Brewers in 1973 and one year later he was their full-time shortstop. He continued to play shortstop until 1985, when he was moved to the outfield.

Hack Wilson - Baseball Hall of Fame

Hack Wilson played in the outfield for four National League teams over a twelve year major league baseball career, starting with the New York Giants in 1923 and ending with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1934. Wilson was unique for a major league baseball player in at least two ways. First, he was rather short for a professional player, standing at only 5 feet 6 inches, but he weighed a hefty 195 pounds. Unlike most other major league baseball players, Wilson was not drafted from high school or college since he dropped out of school in sixth grade.

Billy Williams - Baseball Hall of Fame

Billy Williams was an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs for 16 years, starting in 1959. He ended his career as a major league player in 1976 as a member of the Oakland Athletics. Williams started in the minor leagues but he quickly moved to the Cubs and the majors in 1959 at the age of 21. He stayed with the Cubs until they traded him after the 1974 season to the Athletics. Williams played in over 100 games in each season from 1961 to 1976. He started strong in his first full season, winning the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1961. In 1971, Williams set the National League record for most consecutive games played (1,117), a record Williams held until 1983 when it was broken by Steve Garvey.

Ryne Sandberg - Baseball Hall of Fame

Although Ryne Sandberg started with the Philadelphia Phillies, he played with the Chicago Cubs for 15 of his 16 years in the major leagues. In 1994, after playing in only 57 games, Sandberg retired but he returned to the Cubs in 1996 for two final full seasons.

Ferguson Jenkins - Baseball Hall of Fame

Pitcher Ferguson Jenkins played major league baseball for 19 years, starting in 1965 with the Philadelphia Phillies and ending with the Chicago Cubs in 1983. His longest time with one team was 8 years (1966-1973) with the Cubs. He returned to the Cubs in 1982 to complete his last two years in the majors.

Gabby Hartnett - Baseball Hall of Fame

Gabby Hartnett was catcher for the Chicago Cubs for 19 years and their player-manager for 3 years. He finished out the last year of his major league career in 1941 with the New York Giants. Hartnett's first two seasons with the Cubs, 1922 and 1923, were only partial seasons due to injuries. He played in over 100 games in each of 12 seasons (1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930-1937) while with the Cubs.

Kiki Cuyler - Baseball Hall of Fame

Kiki Cuyler played for four teams over an 18-year major league career. He started in 1921 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and he ended his career in 1938 playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Although Cuyler started his major league career in 1921, he didn't become part of Pittsburgh's starting lineup until 1924. After four years as a regular with Pittsburgh, Cuyler was traded to the Chicago Cubs in November, 1927. He stayed with the Cubs for eight years and then moved to the Cincinnati Reds for two years in 1935. He finished his last year, 1938, with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Frank Chance - Baseball Hall of Fame

Frank Chance was both a long-time player and manager for the Chicago Cubs. He also played for and managed the New York Yankees and managed the Boston Red Sox in his final year in major league baseball. Chance began his major league baseball career in 1898 with the Chicago Cubs, but he only played partial seasons until 1903. He began his managerial career in 1905, while continuing also to play for the Cubs. From 1903-1908, Chance played in six full seasons of over 100 games.

Billy Herman - Baseball Hall of Fame

From 1931 to 1947, Billy Herman played for four different major league baseball teams: Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, and his final year with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also served as manager for the Pirates in 1947. Herman started his career in 1931 with the Chicago Cubs and he stayed with them as their second baseman through the start of the 1941 season. After 11 games in 1941, Chicago traded him to the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played with the Dodgers from 1941-1943, but then left to serve in World War II. Herman returned to the Dodgers in 1946 and after 47 games, he was traded to the Boston Braves. The Braves then traded him to the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to the 1947 season. Herman played in and managed only 15 games in his last season.
